“Hello, my name is Candice Young-Deler and in spite of having sickle cell disease, I have overcome many obstacles. Achieving outstanding grades while attending school was a task, which limited my chances for a scholarship. Because of severe pain caused by sickle cell crises, I constantly struggled with school related work. I found it very difficult, but not unattainable. For this reason, we assist students with sickle cell disease by awarding a $1,500 scholarship to three individuals annually.”
